Learning About Gossiping

Out of complete randomness Cayden goes into a spiel about Gossip.  I immediately thought that it was a subject learned at today’s Spring Break camp at our church today.  It totally seems like a ‘life lesson’ that would have been discussed.  Imagine my surprise when I got a playback of a My Little Pony episode on television this afternoon. Cayden was able to share  a very good definition of gossip and why gossip is not good.  All of this learned from Pinky Pie and Rainbow’s sad experience in the My Little Pony episode.

Looking back, I have learned quite a few valuable lessons from watching my favorite cartoons as a child.  I certainly am not leaving the learning all of life's lessons to watching television, but am very happy when a lesson or two is learned by the ‘wasting of time’.

Our Favorite Two Little People

These crazy 2 loves of our lives, seldom enjoy each others company.  Whenever they are in the vincinity of one another, a fight, scream or cry is inevitable.  I continue to hope that one day they will become friends.  Many tell me that it will happen. One day.  I sure hope that day comes sooner rather than later.

We do get glimpses once in a while.  The most recent was Peyton saying to Cayden, “Me hug, Cayden.”

Little sibling moments like this give us hope that one day Cayden will be the protector and Peyton will admire her big brother and be allowed to be the tag-a-long.

Health Challenge Fever

As I sit at my computer typing in emails, adding people to the Facebook group, replying to emails and messages, sending out info, I sit here and enjoy a new episode on The Biggest Loser.

BiggestLoser

I see people working hard, crying, screaming and throwing up.  I would love to go through a process as intense as this, just to challenge me.  But, I am pretty satisfied with our little Health Challenge Group.

I love the support and encouragement of people.  I love the ease of following the guidelines at a pace I can manage.  I love reading about the success of others.  I love that also have the potential to win a little money to help me with my new wardrobe. I simply love everything about it.

So, here I am, thankful for being introduced to my first Challenge last spring.  Here I am after taking the past 4 months off from competing, ready to challenge myself again.   Here I am so ready to hit some of my last goals.

This last goal was so much closer to reach at the end of the last challenge I participated in.  After a Christmas season in which I lacked  a lot of self control, this goal has slipped farther from my grasp than I had hoped:(  But, back to it I go!

I will not be competing in the January Health Challenge.  Lucky for all. But I will be competing in the Dawson Creek Challenge.  This is run by a friend of mine that competed in it with her husband in the fall.  They were so successful as a couple that they inspired so many people that it made sense to run a Dawson Creek Group.  They reached over 3o participants in the first round and are still growing.

After their last challenge, some of their members from Calgary started their own, because they also were so successful.  This new Calgary group is also reaching over 30 members in their first round.

There is a Health Challenge Fever going on!  And it is fantastic!

Miss You Guys

It was nice to get this text, “Hey, it’s a couple days late, but Happy New Year! miss you guys. lots.’’

Brought a few tears because we miss this guy so much.  It feels like forever since Ivan lived with us.  He was a huge part of our family.  It really has only been four months since we said our teary good-byes.

Cayden figures that Ivan will be back living us when he turns nine.  Poor kid. He really misses his “big brother”.  I had to break it too him that he would be at least ten before Ivan made his way back to Canada.  At least another 2 years.

Happy New Year to you too Ivan! Wishing you the best as you become a man through your army enlisting experience next month:)

Goodbye Christmas of 2012

It’s official.  I have officially said goodbye to the past Christmas season.  With a wisp of sadness I packed all my Christmas décor away.

My house feels slightly bare.  I think it’s time to go on a little Décor shopping trip.  My favorite kind of shopping trip.

Although, maybe it’s time to get creative instead.  I have ‘Pinterested’ so many amazing DIY projects, maybe I need to just try a few things and save lots of money!

Take A Picture of Me!

For the first two years of Peyton's life, she has been an uncooperative model.  Whenever I attempted to take pictures, she quickly managed to look away, sad or angry.  It was a rare moment that I was actually able to capture a good picture.  It annoys me to no end, because I just love ‘perfect pictures’, but simply had to be satisfied with whatever I could manage.
It seems that the times of camera avoidance may be coming to an end.  I find that Peyton is actually starting to pose for pictures.  But only for moment.  That moment probably feels like forever for a two year old though.
Peyton got ahold of some stickers and attached them in a few random places.  Including the middle of her forehead.  I was taking some pictures, and she said,  “Take a picture of me!”
Shocked, I quickly turned to take pictures of her, only to have her run away once again. But… too my surprise, she ran to the tree and stood in front of it.  Then said, “Take a picture of me here!”  Of course I took the moment.  Didn’t get a very good picture with my iphone, but it was a picture nonetheless that she requested.  I feel that the future of good pictures is on the horizon:)

Coming To A Close

Our annual Boxing Day Dinner at my mom’s tonight marks the official end of the 2012 Christmas Season for our family.  It is the last time of over-indulging in food and treats.  Our last family get-together for the year.  As much as I love the time leading up to Christmas.  The days of Christmas.  And everything to do with Christmas.  I am officially done.

I am looking forward to the remainder of the week.  I took the whole week off just to stay at home with my kids and take care at least one of my DIY projects.  Taking time off and not going away is something I have NEVER done before.  So it should be interesting.

My goal is to finally complete my Buffet redo.  This piece has been sitting in my garage for the past year, just waiting for some TLC.  I am so looking forward to seeing what I can do with it.  I have a vision of what I hope it will look like at the end.  But… this is my first ever furniture redo.  So, fingers crossed.  I am going to tackle it.  Hope that I can show off a completely transformed Buffet early in the New Year:)
